WATCH THE FOLLOWING VIDEO AND REFLECT ON THE QUESTIONS BELOW

IN DEPTH – SOCIAL AND WORKPLACE INEQUALITY

The video offers an overview of how the legal and cultural frameworks of the participating countries shape the ways in which workplace inequality is expressed and addressed.
Convergences and divergences are analysed from an Equality Agents perspective.

What to focus on while watching

  • How different countries define and regulate workplace inequality.
  • The role of culture in shaping “acceptable” workplace behaviour.
  • Differences between legal equality and real equality in practice.
  • How organisations interpret and implement equality policies.
  • Where gaps appear between law, policy, and daily workplace reality.

Key analytical perspective (Equality Agents lens)

While watching, consider that inequality is not only a legal issue, but also a social and organisational phenomenon.
Even when legal frameworks are similar, workplace experiences may differ significantly due to:

  • Organisational culture and leadership styles
  • Informal power structures
  • Implicit bias and stereotypes
  • Differences in enforcement of policies
  • Social acceptance of inequality in everyday interactions

The key question is not only what the law says, but how it is experienced in real workplaces.
