1.1. Introduction to Block 0
Before starting to work in teams, each participant must carry out an initial individual reflection to choose the workplace inequality topic they want to work on during Module 2.
This step is very important because it will define the direction of the rest of the module. Based on this choice, international teams will be formed, and the development of the practical project will begin, culminating in the final awareness-raising PowerPoint for companies.
From theory to practice
In Module 1, you acquired a shared foundation: common language, understanding of direct and indirect discrimination, biases, group dynamics, informal power, organisational climate, intersectionality, prevention, and organisational responsibility.
Moving into Module 2 does not mean leaving that theory behind, but rather starting to use it as a working tool. Module 1 itself states that “understanding is no longer enough” and that the next phase requires scenario analysis, simulations, and method-based intervention.
How to choose your topic
For this reason, your choice of topic should not be based only on intuition or personal preference. It should be supported by:
- What you learned in Module 1.
- The observation of the workplace.
- A small but reliable bibliographic base.
Your topic should reflect both interest and analytical grounding.
Thinking as an Equality Agent
From this initial block, the project asks you to start thinking like Equality Agents: with a critical perspective, analytical capacity, and arguments supported by evidence.
The project was specifically designed to train agents capable of:
- Promoting inclusive work environments.
- Applying equality strategies.
- Transferring useful methodologies to real organisations.
This is the moment where learning becomes action and reflection becomes structured analysis.
