Some professions are perceived as:

  • “for men”
  • “for women”

Such stereotypes do not exist in a vacuum – they have a real impact on professional life.

Impact on various areas

  • educational choices
  • salary
  • career paths

For example: professions perceived as “male” often offer higher pay, but at the same time may discourage women due to stereotypical expectations regarding behaviour or working style.

Gender roles shape not only what we do, but also how we are evaluated at work.

How to change these patterns?

  • consciously challenging stereotypes during recruitment
  • promoting diverse career role models
  • creating an environment where everyone can choose according to their interests and skills, not their gender

Equality of opportunity at work begins with seeing people, not gender-assigned roles.

Stereotypes limit potential – awareness is the first step towards change.
