Equality Agents Training Course

We often think that equality means:

“Treat everyone equally.”

But does treating everyone the same always lead to the same results?

A simple example

Three people must overcome the same obstacle.

  • one starts with an advantage
  • the second has a neutral starting point
  • the third one starts in a more difficult situation

If we give everyone the same support:

  • a person with an advantage will quickly achieve the goal
  • the person in a more difficult situation will still be left behind

We applied equality – but the effect is not fair.

What is the difference?

Equality means giving everyone the same.
Equity means giving everyone what they need to achieve a comparable result.

It is not the starting point that should determine the result – but the real possibility of achieving the goal.

Why is this important at work?

  • not everyone has the same access to resources and support
  • identical requirements can lead to unequal results
  • conscious adaptation increases real equality of opportunity

Justice is not about identical treatment – but about adequate support.

Equality is a principle. Justice is a practice.
